It was really a great day for a race. Although I can’t personally vouch for the weather in previous years, the rumor mill has it that it was miserable. So, I was glad when the forecast called for cool and cloudy skies. Of course, it didn’t say anything about rain, and so, there I stood, waiting to start the swim, while my bike, socks, shoes, other socks, and everything else got wet in the rain. Oh well. It happens.
Overall it was a great race. I was feeling great until about mile 10 when I started to get hot. It was only 72 degrees. I need to do something about this inability to run in the heat, or I’m going to be in trouble.
I finished in 6:15 which was right about where I expected. Of course, it would have been nice to go faster, but hey, I finished in one piece, and was none the worse for wear. I call that a win.
